Year End Update

Posted on December 28, 2017

Hello everyone. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. I just wanted to take a minute to share some information as we close in on the new year. Please note that in celebration of the New Year Holiday city offices will be closed on Monday, January 1st.

Property Taxes

To avoid penalty and interest payments tax bills are due by December 31st. Due to City offices being closed on Sunday the 31st we will not be able to accept payments in person on that date.

You can pay in person at the City building using cash, check, or credit card between 7:30 and 5:00 p.m. today (28th) through Friday (29th). You can also drop your payment any time day or night through the secure mail slot on the front door of the city building. If you can’t pay in person you can mail payment to the city building or lock box address listed on your tax bill. You can also pay via credit card by calling the city building between 7:30 and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Please note, when paying by credit card there is a 2.49% convenience fee. This fee goes directly to the credit card processing company. The city does not retain any of it.

Remember, bills must be paid by midnight on December 31st. If mailed, it must be postmarked December 31st or earlier to avoid penalty.

Tree Disposal

Christmas trees will be mulched on January 19th, please drop the trees off by no later than January 18, 2018. Trees can be dropped off at the City Building any time after December 27th. An area will be marked as in years past. Again, we ask that you remove all ornaments, lights, twine, garland and wire from the trees.

Office Hours

Effective Tuesday, January 2, 2018, the office hours for the City of Fort Wright are 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The current hours are 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday- Friday. Please note the change.

Happy New Year to everyone. If you have questions please feel free to contact me.

Thanks,

Ed Butler
City Administrative Officer
