Amsterdam Reconstruction Update

Posted on June 25, 2018

As part of the Amsterdam reconstruction project KS Energy, a subcontractor for Duke Energy, will be installing a new gas main between General and Morris; and lowering services between Morris and Redwood. KS Energy began this work today. We apologize for the short notice, but the information regarding this portion of the project has been slow to get to us. During this project the crews will be working daily between 8 am – 4:30 pm and they will have flaggers to maintain a lane of traffic, so delays will be possible. The project will take a minimum of two weeks, anticipating one week to install the main and one week to install the services.

Also, there will be a period of time after the main is installed set aside to allow for pressure testing to be done on the new main and then to allow Duke to tie the new main into their existing service. During the process of “service tie in’s” there will be a small interruption in your service. KS Energy has informed us that they will be scheduling this with residents and you may find a door hanger at your home with instructions from them. The successful completion of this project in this time frame is weather dependent and we appreciate your patience.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact Jeff Bethell, Public Works Director, at the City Building at 859-331-1700 or by email at [email protected].
