Hiring Full Time Lieutenant Firefighter/Paramedic - Application Deadline Extended

The City of Fort Wright is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated and experienced individual for the position of Full-Time Lieutenant Firefighter/Paramedic.  This position reports directly to the Fire/EMS Chief and must perform skilled responsibilities in addition to administrative functions, supervision, command, and technical oversight of the City Fire/EMS Department which has an estimated 1500 service calls per year.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, as well as, strong organizational, leadership skills and excellent customer service abilities necessary to protect life and property.  He or she must also possess excellent writing skills and be proficient in various applicable technology; and be able to bend, lift, and move items in excess of 75 pounds. This individual will also be responsible for duties including, but not limited to, fire prevention/suppression, emergency medical duties, rescue, report preparation, training, investigations, inventory, staff supervision, supply/equipment oversight/maintenance, and community programming.

The successful candidate should possess a high school diploma or equivalency (Associates or Bachelor’s Degree from an Accredited University in Fire Science/Education or another closely related field is preferred);  A Valid Driver’s License; Current National Registry Paramedic Certification or KY Paramedic Certification; ACLS, CPR, and PALS Certifications; KY 400 HR Certification or Firefighter I and II Certification; CPAT Card (KY Firefighter laterals are exempt).  All applicable certifications should be supplemented by proven progressive responsible Fire Rescue/EMS work with some supervisory experience, or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.

This is a 24/48 hour shift rotation including a Kelly Day, that involves hazardous work in inclement weather conditions.

Starting Salary (DOQ) is $51,000, plus 416 hours of regularly scheduled over-time and a $4,000 state hazardous duty incentive. Excellent benefit package provided, which currently includes the following:
