All City Parks to Close Until Further Notice

Posted on March 24, 2020

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the City of Fort Wright regretfully announces that all city owned parks will be closed effective immediately. This decision was not made without serious consideration as we recognize that in these difficult times where we are trying to stay “Healthy at Home” here in Kentucky, parks are a great option for both exercise and mental health. Unfortunately, this dangerous virus can be spread through the touching of common surfaces and through close personal contact. As a result, we must do what is the best interest of everyone and close the parks until further notice. The following City owned parks are now closed:

  • Tot Lot, located the City Building
  • Battery Hooper Park
  • Volunteer Park

Our Police Department will patrol the park areas and can cite violators for criminal trespassing. We certainly hope that will not be necessary.  Warnings will be issued where appropriate but failure to comply with this directive is a violation of Kentucky law so please comply and help ensure that we can all remain “Healthy at Home”.

We certainly encourage everyone to continue healthy habits by exercising with the appropriate use of social distancing. Walking and riding bikes in neighborhoods are still strongly encouraged. Enjoy the beauty of Fort Wright as we head into Spring. Hopefully, this crisis will pass soon, and we can return to a sense of normalcy but we all must do our part to make that a reality.

Stay safe and if there is anything that you need please do not hesitate to contact the City Hall at 859-331-1700 or through E-mail at [email protected].
