Fire/EMS Services and Programs
Carbon Monoxide & Smoke Detectors
The Fire/EMS Department has both carbon monoxide and smoke detectors available for residents of Fort Wright who are on fixed incomes or who are unable to afford one and do not currently have one or both installed in their homes. These are provided through the American Red Cross. The Firefighters can also assist in proper installation or instruction of proper locations for installations of both detectors. Please contact one of the Firefighters or stop by to pick up a detector for your home, if you do not currently have one or both installed.
This program is currently offered at Saint Agnes Elementary School and several child care centers in the City. It is designed to inform our children of the dangers of fire and what to do in any emergency. Children are taught to Stop, Drop, and Roll; to have escape routes from their home; and to have practice fire drills with their family and have meeting points outside of their home, in case a fire should occur. For more information on this program or to make arrangements to visit the Fire/EMS Department, please contact us during office hours.
