Fort Wright Garden Club
The Fort Wright Garden Club is an independent organization that volunteers to beautify the City of Fort Wright Public Properties.
It was established in 1980 by members of the community looking for a way to combine their love for gardening and their love for our city. The main focus of the garden club is education in order to become better gardeners but also to learn more about how we can take care of the little piece of the earth we inhabit. We welcome everyone - Fort Wright resident or not -who has a passion for gardening to join us to learn about all aspects of gardening, as well as to work together to beautify our city.
We meet on the second Thursday evening of the month, usually at the South Hills Civic Club community building in Fort Wright, but summer meetings are often held in member's gardens. We learn from a variety of guest speakers, but also from each other. We like to get our hands dirty, so we work on some public gardens together. We also have fun field trips and picnics.
We welcome new gardeners as well as old hands. There's always someone who can answer your questions or point you to a source of information.
Regular events include: Plant Swap and Sale fundraiser in the spring, maintenance of public gardens within the City of Fort Wright, creating holiday floral swags for street signs, Holiday Party and a variety of other events.
The topic and location of our monthly meeting is always posted on our Facebook page.
