Hiring Full Time Public Works Laborer

The City of Fort Wright is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and experienced individual for the position of full-time Public Works Laborer.  The individual in this position will be responsible for duties that range from manual labor to skilled tasks and will report directly to the Public Works Director.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a demonstrated proficiency in the operation of power tools & heavy machinery, and excellent customer service abilities.  He or she must also be able to bend, lift and move items in excess of 50 pounds several times a day, work outside in adverse weather conditions, and work some weekends and on-call.  This individual will also be responsible for duties including, but not limited to the maintenance, repair, and construction of city streets, sidewalks, public buildings & property, city vehicles; mowing of public rights of ways and public property; installation of traffic signs; plowing and salting city streets; the maintenance and upkeep of various Parks & the South Hills Civic Center; oversee work release program participants; and other duties as assigned.  

The successful candidate should possess minimally - a High School Diploma or equivalency, supplemented by previous work experience; a valid driver’s license; a valid Commercial Driver’s License (preferred but not required); and a demonstrated proficiency in the operation of heavy equipment and power tools.  

Salary Range (DOQ) is $36,962.94 to $49,711.05, plus occasional over-time. Excellent benefit package provided, which currently includes the following:
