PRESS RELEASE

City of Fort Wright Staff Volunteer at Election Polls

Fort Wright, KY (May 23, 2023) – The City of Fort Wright is proud to announce our participation and support of the election process by creating and promoting a policy allowing staff members to serve as poll workers on election days.

The Fort Wright City Council passed Executive Order 4-2023 at their April 5th, 2023 City Council Meeting which provided for Fort Wright Staff Members who reside in Kenton County to obtain authorized leave with pay for the day or days served.

This policy was created as the result of a severe shortage of poll workers for the May 2023 Primary Election. Fort Wright Mayor Dave Hatter said "it's in the best interest of our community to assist in the endeavor to provide adequate poll workers to assure a fair and efficient election process". He hopes other Cities and local businesses will also join in this effort.

County Clerk Gabe Summe applauded Mayor Hatter for the unique idea to engage city employees in working the Elections. I know other cities are also contemplating this idea so I am looking forward to talking with city staff to fill the important roll of poll worker”.

We encourage others to please consider signing up to work the polls in November on Election Day. Click Here and select the "KY Needs Poll Workers" button to sign up!

Thank you.
